Gender Inequality

One local problem is the issue of gender inequality. In our society we have failed at the social injustice o gender inequality. I want to change it because I know men and woman need each other and are more than compatible in working efficiently with no difference. One thing I could do is stand up for women when they are put down or inspire them to not be put down. I could also show men how women are being unequally treated by talking with them. I have also looked into an organization on campus called Gender Equality Organization. They firmly believe in helping Florida Gulf Coast University and offer a gender free space of individuals. Where they work against stereo types and help all genders speak freely.
On a even larger note global gender inequality is a even bigger problem. The United States of America is somewhat the best out of the other countries with the least discrimination. But at the same time there is a huge inequality level in America still.Last semester in my social problems class I learned that some country's had a complete role reversal where the women where in charge and ran their town's and villages. This is amazing and only proves that men and women can work together even better and can do the same if not more than men.So are society just needs to change and then help other country's society's.

Unhealthy Dream's

Lisa Shives M.D. wrote Viscious Cycle of Sleep Apnea And Obesity in Kids.
http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2012/02/17/vicious-cycle-of-sleep-apnea-and-obesity-in-kids/?hpt=he_c2
In this article she talks about how recently in a study children that are obese are becoming more and more susceptible to sleep apnea that's as severe as a normal adults. This causes OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) which 80 to 90 percent of the time in pediatrics is cured by removing the tonsils and adenoids. The reason this happens in obese children is because the tonsils become enlarged due to fatty tissues in the upper airways. Fat deposits in the chest and neck also add to the heaviness or collapsability of the neck during sleep.
I feel like this should be an eye opener to a big problem in America. Obesity is already the 2nd biggest cause in death, 1st is smoking and 3rd is alcohol. In the article I read a sentence that made me feel like there is no hope for these kids. One talked about how if your obese child has sleep deprivation it increases their hunger during the day. The problem I have with this is their already obese so eating more is even worse. I feel the parents are letting down their children. I'll even put it in a different perspective. Smoking and alcohol shouldn't be competing with eating as a cause of death. Because eating should not be a bad thing but over eating is and It is hurting everybody including your kids.

My Ethnicity Poem

Born in to the country of America,

a white freckled son of Irish.

A child of four, born into a calm world.

I am a Indianapolis Hoosier,

a prodigy of where speed and humor is made.

A citizen like all the others, but like none.

I speak English mirthfully; the language of my dreams,

dull or sharp, knowingly placing humor, in my world.

I am sweet, purposely placed, love in my heart.

Strength of my mind, holding all I know.

The language where money isn’t all,

the lyrics of the radio, the crazed moves of dancing.

I am of Irish passion, making history like my ancestors.

I try for you.

I am not Scottish, but the Scott’s are in me, but I can not return.

I am not British, but the Britt’s are in me, no trail of return.

I am not Australian, yet the Aussie’s are in me, no home to find.

I am new, the good old days brought me, my only language is English,

I was born into a calm world, the calm world was born into me.

Stranger Danger or a Hacked Mac

Joan Goodchild was on CBS news in May of 2010. She is the senior editor of CSO (Chief Security Officer) Online. According to her where not as safe as we thought we where. Our information is being spread through third parties simply because after privacy updates or redesign the settings are set to less safe default settings that we forget to change. Some facebook adds may contain malware. While on top of that your friends unknowingly make you vulnerable to these things. If thats not enouph to worry about scammers are making fake profiles. One of the problems is that facebook is the most popular social websites in the world and security wholes are found every day.
I do believe Joan Goodchild is right in all of her points. I see facebook get hacked actuallly most commonly is hacked facebookers posting absurd pictures of random nudity or videos that wern't really posted by them. This is kind of scary in the fact that makes us look wierd. So i could safely say the big bad wolf has found a way in around our firewall brick house. But I won't stop using it, either will the other millions of people.

Don't Be A Scrambled Egg

Through this poster we get the idea that drugs are bad and burn are brain. Drugs break you first spilling all of what you are. Your insides are left to burn and get hurt. Then at the bottom of the poster there is nothing left but a shell of you. Where your not really there. The poster is printed in black and white to show the gloominess and depression of drugs. It is set up so it goes through a stage process showing the before and after. From a distance you would just see the pan and egg so it subconsciously attracts people because people are naturally attracted to food. This would appeal to all ages except under teenagers. Eggs also in a way represent life and birth. So this shows drugs will take away and ruin your life.

Why Men Don't Talk To Women

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d54TiN3t5_I

This is exactly true! I'm just kidding. This does show how men and women communicate in a basic tense though. Guy's just like talking to girls because they are pretty and it is their job. Women take what men say and analyze it to much that they blow it out of proportion! We say one compliment and a girl will automatically freak out to find out why their talking to them what are plans are with them and most of the time assume we like then. Men get stuck with the bad end of the deal because then we have to explain that's all we meant by nice shoes. Then we get are head bit off and sawed into a couple pieces. The joys of women and their brains.

Veteran's Day Blog

Blog Post 7
The first picture I believe is a better representation of Veteran's Day. In the first poster it shows are flag which represents pride, joy, life, and freedom. All of which are what we live for so we honor the people that have to fight for us. It also shows a light coming down on the flag making it happy and bright since it should stand out. It is like the heavens are shining on us. The people who fought are there for us. This goes to show that we care for all who served.
The Second poster is not the right representation all though it has a good meaning. It mentions following the footsteps of or nation and past, present, and future. I find this add also a recruiting add. It wants you to follow. The symbol at the bottom is also the air force symbol. It does also talk about honor and remembrance which a lot of people believe we forget about what are heroes have done for us but that's why we become patriotic and have a day for them.
So my verdict is the first one as you could have easily guessed.
